Wenger admits he is moving in the transfer market

Arsène Wenger has finally stated what we were all hoping he would, that he is in the market for new players. However the Frenchman insists that he is still focused on the season at hand as they fight for a top four finish.

Last summer majority of Arsenal’s acquisitions came at the death in the transfer window, and Wenger certainly won’t want a repeat of the fiasco that plagued their start to the season.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of players recently including German international Lukas Podolski and Frenchman Yann M’Vila. However Wenger’s men have only seven fixtures remaining including this weekends blockbuster tie with Manchester City, and every point is vital in their quest for Champions League football next season.

Wenger is focused on the league run-in, but has admitted that there is movement in the transfer market from Arsenal’s side, he told Arsenal Player:

Things are starting now [in terms of transfers].

At the moment we are so focused on finishing the season well, though, because what we have done over the past two months is absolutely exceptional.

It would be stupid not to finish the job now because we have put ourselves back in a strong position. To finish the season well demands a complete focus on our performances and that is what will do.

We will prepare for next season and the credit we will get for this season will depend on how we finish.

With Podolski essentially a done deal it will be interesting to hear who the other targets are. M’Vila has always been a player that I never thought Wenger would buy with Song, Coquelin and Frimpong all defensive midfielders, but it makes sense if he is as talented as people are saying. It may enable Song to become a more box to box midfielder and perhaps push Wilshere higher up the pitch.

The Gunners need to buy the best if it is available, and M’Vila will be available according to reports from his club Rennes who have conceded they are set to loose their star man. If the combative midfielder is purchased then it will likely mark the end of Coquelin at the club, perhaps he could be included in the deal?

So who do you think Wenger should buy if Podolski is a done-deal? I’m starting to warm to the idea of M’Vila moving to London especially after a summer move for Gotze has gone out the window with the youngster signing a new deal last month. Feel free to comment below…

M’villa is a good player let we keep faith peharps mr.wenger can buy him

  • Julius

Why would you want Coquelin to leave… He’s incredibly technically gifted. He’s great back up for the centre midfield AND fullback. Definite keep. I’d loan him out for a season or two

  • Phillip

do we really need another defensive midfielder ? We already have Song, Coquelin,Frimpong there……We need a creative midfielder to partner Wishere in the midfield….somebody like SHINJI KAGAWA……SIGN THIS LAD AND WE CAN WIN THE LEAGUE NXT SEASON !

Wenger should not sell couqlein. He is good, if we give him playing time we will enjoy him.

  • Lateef

Coquelin is going nowhere i trust wenger.francis just sign a new contract,i think he may go out on loan.

Is true we have song conqullin, and frimpong. Buyin m’villa is not a waste it will give room for us †̥ loan out conquillin and frimpong for improvement and have more playin time. That wil also help song †̥ go forward hvin at the back of his mind dat someone will cover up.

We dont have any RWB only Sagna is good enough to play what will be his back up. Answer if u have any idea

    • Hex

We have Jenkinson who is decent, Coquelin can cover as well as Djourou and Koscielny. But Jenkinson is certainly Wenger’s #2 right back

Arsenal fans who stay in London;give Wenger a very LAST CHANCE whereby this time round if Arsenal goes trophiless [in the 2012/13 season],you fans just mobilize each other and protest/demonstrate bitterly at Arsenal’s headquarters in London to pressurize Wenger to either resign by himself or be FIRED/SACKED and replaced immediately by people like Frank Rijkaard,Guus Hiddink etc.ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and TOO MUCH OF SOMETHING IS POISON

  • papilo

Le Coq is a fantastic footballer. I can not even imagine wenger selling him as that will be foolish. He is too good to be loaned as well. Very adaptable and versatile player that has played left back, right back and defensive midfield positions.

  • RJ

Has anyone noticed Vela has 9 goals and 7 assists this year in La Liga? Should Arsenal give him another chance?

    • mjw

Yes. He should definitely be training with Arsenal for the Gunners preseason unless if he is sold of course.. Real Sociedad may offer a decent sum for the little Mexican

  • Bola

Arsene is damn too rigid for my liking,he knows what to do(employ to lift trophies) just has every fan does.’your song becomes a noise even to you if u r singing and d song is not nice’

  • Emmanuel

I suggest he should leave d three of dem and buy m,villa so dat he will be featuring frimpong and coquelin at d fa cup and carling cup y song and m,villa 4 d league and UCL. DIS wil b a great pairing. Up GUNNERS.
