Transfer News: Rennes confirm M’vila move likely to England or Russia

| January 11, 2013 | 5 Comments

Ligue 1 club Rennes have confirmed that their French midfielder Yann M’Vila is shaping up for a move to either England or Russia this January window.

He has reportedly gained the interest of clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham, QPR and Zenit, but has himself stated that he will stay until the end of season provided an offer doesn’t satisfy all parties.

M’Vila has been heavily linked with Arsenal for a while now, but no move has eventuated for the defensive midfielder with his off-field antics proving to be a deterrent for his potential employers.

Rennes’ General Manager Pierre Dreossi is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:

Yes, he feels like leaving.

But it is not a priority for us to sell. If he has to leave, he will leave. But if it is not worth it for him or for us, he will stay until the end of the season.

It is all moving towards England or Russia.

M’Vila is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:

The club have received offers.

I want to go but the deal has to be right for everyone. If it isn’t, I will stay until the end of the season.

It is still hard to understand why no club has decided to snap the Frenchman up, particularly considering Rennes are likely to sell him for a cut-price given his contract situation.

While Arteta has performed admirably in the defensive midfield position, it is quite clear that Arsenal are needing a pure defensive midfielder as a like-for-like replacement for the recently departed Alex Song.

Yes, he would be a risk to sign, but we have certainly seen risky signings with the likes of Squillaci, Santos and Gervinho who have certainly not lived up expectation.

What do you guys think? Feel free to leave a comment below or comment on M’Vila in the forums!

He is not a risky signing like Squillaci, Santos or Gervino. He is a risky signing like Pennant, Bentley and Bendner. We all know how those three have worked out, talents pissing their career away due to poor attitudes and off field antics. Perfectly understandable that Arsenal is weary of signing M’Vila.

It’s easy to say M’vila is a bad boy, but we have seen worse than that, Eric Cantona , Anilka was suspending from France Team,Palo Rorossi was in prison , but he was call to the Italian National team and score three goals against brasil in fanals. So Wenger can’t use that as excuese. M’vila can add more tonic in Asenal game. Now the price has drop Wenger have to get M’vila ASAP.
