Arsenal target Julian Draxler has spoken with international team mates Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil about the Gunners, a side he has hailed as a ‘big club’ he could be interested in joining.
The Schalke midfielder has expressed his admiration for Arsene Wenger’s side who have always given young talent a chance to play unlike some of their other big rivals.
But despite his interest in leaving the Bundesliga side in the future, he has ruled out moving this winter as he aims to improve by playing regularly with an eye on the World Cup in Brazil next summer.
The German starlet featured against England in the international friendly in midweek, coming on as a second half substitute and sees the Premier League as a possible destination in the future, however for now he sees himself remaining in Germany come February.
The Daily Star reported the German star said:
For my club I have the chance to play nearly every game, it is important for me to improve myself.
I have said every summer I have to look what is the best for me and I will do in the summer again and we will see what happens.
But no way. I won’t switch then (in January).
Arsenal’s growing German contingent will help to lure further Deutsche stars to Emirates, with Draxler the latest heavily linked player.
The 20-year-old playmaker confirmed he has spoken with Gunners stars Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker while with the national team and they’ve spoken very highly of the north London club.
I have always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal is of course one of them.
Of course I sometimes speak to Mesut or Per about the team, about the club, and they always have good words and they tell me nice things.
You never know what happens in the summer, but Arsenal is a very, very nice team.
They always have very young players, they play attractive football and that is what I like.
Arsenal are steadily becoming more of a desirable destination especially for German stars. Having experienced internationals in the likes of Ozil, Mertesacker and Podolski only bodes well for the Gunners hopes of luring top German talent to the Emirates.
Could Draxler be the next up-and-comer to make the switch to north London? Although he is a highly rated talent is seems unlikely that Wenger would shell out a large amount of cash for the Schalke starlet. The Gunners already have a myriad of attacking midfield talent and two very bright youngsters in Oxlade-Chamberlain and Serge Gnabry, a move for Draxler could stump the duo’s development.
