A shambolic, uninterested, lazy, and downright terrible performance from Arsenal. Switched off right from the beginning, and shaken by early goals from Liverpool. A generally poor performance puts out top spot in danger as we go down 5-1 to 4th placed Liverpool. Here are the player ratings:

Wojciech Szczesny | 5.0: He didn’t do a huge amount wrong, but at the same time didn’t do anything particularly fantastic. He was given next to no protection by his defence.

Bacary Sagna | 4.0: Wasn’t offering enough support to his centre backs, but was arguably the best defensive player in the Arsenal side; which isn’t saying much.

Per Mertesacker | 2.5: Looked totally switched off. There was a lack of concentration in his game, which is vital for him as his lack of pace means he has to be positionally sound. Just seemed to give up at times, and was often unaware of what was around him.

Laurent Koscielny | 3.0: Like his defensive partner, he appeared to switch off at times. Failing to notice runs in behind, and not marking tightly enough in set pieces.

Nacho Monreal | 2.0: Was the worst defender on the pitch in my opinion, and Gibbs needs to come back into the side next game. Was consistently caught up the pitch when he was clearly needed in defence. And was beaten far too easily on several occasions down the left.

Mikel Arteta | 3.0: Despite scoring the Arsenal penalty in a calm and composed manner, Arteta was one of the worst players on the pitch; in the first half especially. His passing was wayward, he was letting the Liverpool players stroll past him like he wasn’t there, and he was putting no pressure on the ball players who were providing the Liverpool forwards.

Jack Wilshere | 6.5: One of the only players on the pitch that looked like he wanted to actually change things. Was constantly trying to get Arsenal going, driving the team forward, and getting involved in attacks. Could have been better defensively at times, but it really says something when Wilshere is the one clearing set pieces.

Mesut Özil | 3.0: Özil gave the ball away needlessly in dangerous areas, twice leading to Liverpool goals. Looked extremely uninterested and was rightly substituted.

Santi Cazorla | 5.0: Wasn’t as wasteful with possession as some of his team mates, but didn’t have much of an impact on the game either.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain | 7.0: (MotM) Along with Wilshere, the Ox was the only player that looked up for the game today. Especially in the second half he was shooting, making runs into the box, both with and without the ball, and really trying to make things happen.

Olivier Giroud | 4.0: Wasn’t given much to work with, but the service he did get he did nothing with. His hold up play was disappointing by his usual standard too.

Tomas Rosicky | 6.0: Came on and added a bit of forward momentum, but couldn’t do much with the scoreline looking like it was.

Keiran Gibbs | 6.5: Was a massive improvement on Monreal when he came on. Was better going forward, and far better defensively. Had a few problems with Suarez, but who doesn’t?

Lukas Podolski | 4.0: Did nothing with his time on the pitch, seemed to go missing at times, and when we needed someone in the box he was nowhere to be found.

They have a LOT to prove against Man U and Bayern. We always start off so slowly against the big teams, we can’t match their pace and passion for the game. We can bully the lesser teams though but that may not be enough to deliver us the league. Poor today, come on Arsenal, no more pissing about.
