Arsenal Rumours: Gunners standing firm as United admit RvP bid

| August 9, 2012 | 18 Comments

Manchester United have admitted they have launched a fresh bid for Gunners talisman Robin van Persie, however Arsenal are standing their ground as they either want to gain top dollar for the Dutchman or keep him for the upcoming season, despite the risk of loosing him for free next summer.

Arsene Wenger has not yet sold a player to Premier League rivals United, and reports have been heating up that the Dutchman could be the first to tread the path all Gooners are fearing, especially with other competitors Juventus and Manchester City essentially pulling out of the race to sign last seasons EPL Golden Boot winner.

These reports seemed to be somewhat true from United’s side anyway, with their Scottish manager Sir Alex Ferguson confessing that his side have launched a bid to sign the Gunners talisman, however he admitted he is not feeling that confident that an agreement will be reached

Speaking after United’s preseason penalty shootout loss to Barcelona, Ferguson reportedly said:

We have made a bid and they’ve been trying to negotiate with other clubs. I don’t have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit.

We’re not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal. It’s difficult to say why they’re operating this way. I don’t know what their thoughts are because they’re not giving anything away.

[On the apparent medical happening this evening]I can’t give you any more information

We just have to persevere. We are trying our best and hopefully it will come our way but there’s no progress at this moment in time.

Whether the Gunners are holding out for more money or not, the worrying thing is United’s perseverance that could potentially lure away the Dutchman from the Arsenal camp this summer. Wenger has maintained that they will not sell their star striker this summer, but they have brought in Podolski and Giroud to deal with the blow if they do.

Personally I’d like to see RvP see out his contract and help the Gunners to some silverware this season. There is the possibility that he may in fact sign an extension if things go well for the Gunners this season, especially with the squad reinforced significantly. I can see past his initial statement, just like United fans have gotten over Rooney’s declaration that he wanted to leave, can you?

If MU want RVP make them wait or pay top dollar /pound.Aesenal should not allow themselevs to be dictated to by one rf, a most hated manager, among Arsenal fans.Arsenal could allow RVP’s contract to run down and let him go for free next summer. By then ,rest assured ,he will be a year older and as everybody knows the body begins to take its toll. However I fear the board will waver when pound notes are waved.
As for Arsenal,Wenger belatedly has begun to see the errors of his way.He better win something and make the gunners competitive right up to the season’s end.If not time surely not on his side.

We can’t sell RVP to united, it’s wrong on so many levels. He has to go elsewhere I am 100% against this transfer.

Robin is undoubtedly a quality player but he had no competition for his place last season. If Giroud starts scoring regularly it’s quite possible that Robin will cease to be a regular starter. Then he becomes a one-season-wonder and I bet the top teams will no longer be interested. Last season he was the focus of Arsenals’ play for virtually every game and any decent lone striker at a top club would be competing for the golden boot in such circumstances. Players who were in a formation with 2 up-front or were rotated had little chance of beating his scoring tally. Then there’s the fact that he’ll be sharing Free-Kick duties with Cazorla. I guarantee that if Robin stays at Arsenal he will not be the top scorer in the league next season.

Arsenal are as good as United in defense, better in midfield and better up-font if Van Persie stays. The only area that United have an advantage is on the wings. I strongly believe that United will finish behind Arsenal, City are a much bigger concern.

Now this is what i call a dangerous precedence because as soon as one player crosses over to the “hated reds” several more will do the same . I say sell RVP not to a premiership club rather to a club in Europe so that all players will think twice before holding the club to ransom.

RVP’s issue is gradually running out of the market and the Arsenal talisman is almost irrelevant in the world of transfer now. Virtually, it’s like no team rates his worth so high at all again. Juventus and ManCity are almost out of it while ManU just gesticulates. Arsenal as a great club is firm, wise and collected about the issue and kudus to the club. I dove my hat for Wenger the way he countered RVP’s gimick: Gimick i call it because he is not bent on leaving Arsenal and he has not said he wants to any way. All he wants is pay-rise. With the situation of things now at Arsenal, (I mean the fantastic activities in the transfer market by Arsenal) i am sure RVP himself is confused and i wont be surprised if i read from this site any time from now that he has done a ‘Rooney’. My speculative verdict: RVP will soon sign a contract extension with Arsenal. The handwriting is clear on the board that Arsenal’s trophy-winning days are here and RVP himself has seen it. Wild-Goose chase- ManU, good luck-RVP and wonderful omen -Arsenal. I rest my case for now.

I am not happy to hear that man. United is bidding a fresh bid for our captain, to be honest man.united is not better than arsenal in terms of play. But other boardroom asignments they may be better, what i mean is favour from FA or match officials, maybe this is the reason he want to join them. Last season man united collected 18points from match they suppose to lose or play draw but they collected 3 points from this six matches which no team was given such favour, RVP should not join any arsenal rivals, we are not their training materials, fuck them. He is not going, better run off his remaining and lose him for nothing.

RVP’s saga should be a closed episode in blogs now. The beauty and most interesting face of it is that Arsenal and perhaps Wenger have prepared for life without RVP; and very well too. He is now a personalnongrater at the moment because events at Arsenal have over-taken him while his popular statement against Arsenal has bumeranged and is now counter-productive; at least to him and his targeted money-bags of employers. He is now left in the dark. Beat Arsenal if you can.

I feel Arsenal shd freeze RVP in the reserves and forget about the pounds and let him go next summer.I believe were he to go to OT,he could add a new dimension to their attack and could help them even win the cl.That is why the red faced, nosed is so keen to have him.
Arsenal are adopting the right strategy by demanding extra cash from the rf/n.Sell him abroad for a lower fee.Sometimes these players neeed to be put in their place. Of course money talks and we have to wait and see who blinks first.

I feel it will be a disaster for arsenal if VanPersie really leaves the club. With the likes of Giroud and Podolski that I think will need time to cope well in the squad,Arsenal will be having difficulties in winning the silverware this year, except if VanPersie stays and gives us the thing that he’d done last year. So,better not go away Van!!!
