Arsenal Rumours: Wenger admits Holtby interest, Adrian Lopez rumours heat up
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is interested in signing Schalke’s starlet Lewis Holtby whose contract is set to expire in the summer, while Athletico Madrid’s Adrian Lopez may be Arsenal’s first winter signing with reports heating up – something which may be worth a punt on your mobile at http://www.oddswinner.com/mobile-sports-betting/ .
Schalke managed to tie down Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to a new deal recently however they have failed to repeat the feat (as reported last month) with their young star Holtby, and the German international is now confirmed as on Wenger’s watch list.
The 22-year-old midfielder has attracted plenty of interest from around the continent and he will be available for a cut price this winter or free in the summer, however Wenger failed to elaborate on the interest in Holtby – playing his cards close to his chest as usual.
Wenger told reporters:
We have looked at [Holtby], yes.
People want to see the next Lionel Messi – they don’t want to see a promising guy. The name of the player gives people hope, but when they haven’t heard of them people are already sceptical.
The Frenchman has also admitted that his homeland is not producing the talent that it used to a number of years ago with Spain and Germany churning out the most talented young stars, he continued:
It’s much more difficult for us now. The competition is higher. We are trying to diversify a bit more because we are limited in England. A new market that is very interesting is Japan – it’s very competitive.
The country where we were really competitive in the past was France, but they produce less top players than they did, say, 15 years ago.
The emerging countries look to be Germany and Spain – they have taken over from France and they have many good, young players.
Wenger also went to on to discuss Demba Ba, stating he chose Olivier Giroud over the Newcastle frontman in the summer due to his precarious knee injury and the similarity between the two strikers styles, which is perhaps a decent hint that Ba will not be bought this winter.
However Adrian Lopez may be first up on the ‘transfer in’ list with widespread reports intensifying, linking the striker to the Gunners.
The 24-year-old reportedly has a £14m release clause which is well within Wenger’s price range and the talented forward offers a different approach to Olivier Giroud up front as he is a trickier player, someone that likes to run with the ball and he is able to play as a supporting striker.
If the Gunners can indeed bring in Lopez then the attacking lineup will have plenty of depth and ability, what are your thoughts on the rumours? Would you welcome both Holtby and Lopez with open arms or do you think Wenger should be looking elsewhere? Feel free to comment below..

I do think Arsenal should get rid the flop players who earned 50K to 60K a week. Then sign in some decent backup players.

This season is already gone bar the scrap for 4th which will be nerve racking. Lets build a young British team for next year and beyond. Sign Walcott , Zaha Shaw Butland and Holtby and sell
Arshavin
Bendtner
Denilson
Chamack
Park
Doujouro
Squid
Flappy
Shea
Mannone
Eastmond
Frimpong
Watt
And promote Miguel and Eisfield to some first team action.
In the Summer lose Diaby and Rosicky and replace with one superstar like Goetze and MVilla
Just my view

I’d prefer David Villa to Lopez due to the fact that we’ve all seen villa play so many times and saw what he’s capable of.He has loads of experience compared to Adrian but Arsene dont wanna buy Villa then I’d suggest he goes for Adrian then since there is no other striker better than both for transfer right now…And as for Lewis Holtby would be a great signing.Arsene please promote Eisfield, the young lad is talented.he will be far better than Holtby when he gets to his(holtby) age.

I support Billy Young above on those to be sold but believes Yann M’Vila should arrive this January with about two A-list, quality stars, to create the kind of buzz that greeted the coming of Santi Cazorla, and then Mario Gotze and Wilfried Zaha to come in June.

I personally look forward for Lopez, Holtby and M’villa to get into Arsenal’s team. They will provide a much better looking side to take on the Manchesters onthe playing pitch. The inclusionof a keeper in say Reina, Mignolet will be great!

Lopez good player, Holtby also decent but we need a player who can resurrect our season now as you have seen we struggle a lot to find the back of the net so i would love to see a holding midfielder to come in then a descent striker . and also Rosisky should not be benched as he is the only arsenal player who can push the team up front but and we are missing him in the final third of the pitch.

Guys don’t raise ur hopes too high cos AW may not bring in any new signings this January. He may be playing around with our inteligence. Frimpong is back with us and can be a greAt addition to to the DM role. He may even be better than M’villa in my estimation given some time with team. But if I where AW, I wl bring in Bains frm Everton and get David Villa on a 3 yr contract, he is some energy left in him to burn for us or lliorente or Lopez( Adrian ). Also we need a keeper in Miniolet, that guy is good to give Zsceney a fight.

Arsene wenger should do all he can & sign the duo to help push arsenal to at least a top four finish once again & then go for mario gotze & marco reus at the end of the season,as competion for the top slots is suddenly increasing more than ever, & if care is not taken arsenal could loose out for a champions league place for the first time next season.

Adrian lopez really excites me coz he has more ‘top-level’ expirience as a CF than walcott and giroud.holtby is ok but don’t forget that whoever signs holtby will have to wait till the summer to get him…and current statistics show that Capoue is the second best DM in europe.and he doesn’t come with an ego.so maybe we should go for him

get walcott to sign a deal
out- arshavin, chamakh,,squillachi, djourou amd other deadwood
in- holtby,lopez,m’vila ,defender
with the deadwood out moeny will not be wasted in their wage bill and can be used for siging players, however if they do get rid the deadwood they wont spend moeny on big names cos for many reasons
1)big names have flopped at arsenal
2) wenger likes promising players that come out of nothing like henry, fabergas, even the prick rvp also the most recent michu even thohe is not a arsenal player he was average and flopping at his old club and noowlook at him at swansea

also cos arsenal cannot compete with teams like chelsea and man city on a domestic level and then on a foreign kevek there is teams like psg, madrid, barca and anzhi and so one who have zillionaires as their chairman and they just invest millions like its pennies
