Transfer News: Wenger rules out Villa…………… and Beckham

| January 30, 2013 | 2 Comments

Arsene Wenger has revealed Arsenal have no chance of signing Spaniard David Villa with Barcelona refusing any kind of negotiations regarding the 31 year-old.

It is frustrating given our position and that it is only a few days out from the end of the January window that no-one has been signed to help the team in the second half of the season.

Wenger maintains he is working hard in the market, but I will only believe the transfer when I see it plastered on the front of the official website.

Wenger is quoted as saying by Sky Sport News:

Barca do not want to sell David Villa. They’ve made that very clear.

Regarding David Beckham, Wenger has 100% ruled out anything eventuating (thank god) with the Englishman merely training at the Emirates to keep up his fitness.

Wenger said on Beckham:

It’s purely for fitness. There’s no speculation about signing or anything.

It is sad to say despite Arsenal breaking free from the financial shackles of stadium debt and having a reported ‘war-chest’, this transfer window is looking as if it will amount to another disappointment.

Wenger talks about difficulties in improving the squad, but you only have to look at the tape against Brighton to see that anyone is an improvement on Santos and the need for a pure defensive midfielder is pretty clear.

Hopefully Diame is wrapped up in regards to the latter point, we need that ugly beast in midfield. It would be shame if we lost out to Tottenham for the sake of bargain buying.

What do you guys think? Will Arsene pull a miracle out of the hat in the coming days or will it be more transfer window disappointment for Arsenal fans?

This news does not suprise me as Arsenal are a club i have followed for well over 30 years and its sad to say a club going no where in a hurry.
Who has the power to move Wenger on,it looks like no one at Arsenal have all we can hope is that psg or some other club offer enough that they move him on and if they do we will all throw in a few quid to help on that move.
From an Extreemly dissapointed and ever growing frustrated real Arsenal football fan

alone difference from usual board&AW greeed is that before it was “it is hard to find quality for adequit price” and now after lie about readiness to invest and under the press from supporters usual story was reduced to “now it is hard to find adequit players”… Why the hell it is possible for other teams? Why dont even try with many cheaper players? But it will reduce profits – alone apparent reason of what is going on with former great club AFC
