Carlos Vela has suggested he could depart Real Sociedad this summer, and refused to rule out a potential return to his former club Arsenal.

The Gunners inserted a buy back clause when they sold him to the La Liga outfit which allows them to recapture him with a €4m bid for the €30m rated centre forward.

The 25-year-old has built on his 14 goals last campaign and has matched that tally this season, racking up 11 assists to boot. He’s become a more mature striker since departing the north London side in 2011 and has other clubs that have him on their radar.

He reiterated his willingness to remain with Real Sociedad but is open to the idea of moving abroad, even potentially his former side the Gunners.

Vela told Marca:

I’ve always said that I am very happy here and I am very happy but we will have to see if we reach an agreement or not.

I have some good options out there and here too. I like being where I am and for the moment I have no intention of leaving; but if the time comes to leave, I think I’m ready to try other things.

I’m more mature, I’ve changed my way of thinking and I’m open to anything.

The €30 million [buyout clause] is one option, but we are considering other options to see what can and can’t be done.

Arsenal could buy me back for €4 million, a million more than Real Sociedad paid. Now I see things differently and I’m open to the idea of Arsenal or any English club.

I think I’m ready to go to another country.

Vela has certainly got his career back on track and looks likely to return to the international scene after his infamous snub of his country during a difficult period in his career.

Arsenal require a more technical forward, someone who can take on defenders and create something out of nothing. He’s clearly developed as a player both on and off the field and could be an interesting option this summer.

Despite his decent goal return it’s hardly prolific and not quite the calibre we require to be our marquee centre forward. That said Arsenal need depth up front especially with Bendtner on his way out and Yaya Sanogo/Joel Campbell not ready yet, Vela would be an excellent forward to have in our ranks and all for €4m!

VELA WASNT UP TO MUCH 1ST TIME AROUND…HOWEVER HE SEEMS TO BE BETTER THAN WHEN HE LEFT…30 MILLION POUNDS BETTER….I DOUBT IT…THAT WOULD PUT HIM ALMOST IN THE TOP ECHELONS OF STRIKERS….NOT WITH 14 GOALS…HOWEVER AS A SQUAD PLAYER HE COULDNT BE A BETTER BARGAIN AT 4 MILLION…THATS LESS THAN BENDTNER COST..AND HE WAS/IS A DISASTER..IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN A WORSE PLAYER THAN BENDTNER….SO YES VELA WOULD A BE GOOD FALLBACK UTILITY BUY…

Vela is a 14 goals + 11 assists winger. He is one of the most technical and creative players in La Liga right now. Uses he’s body, strength, pace and dribbling so well.

If Vela comes in, he wouldn’t be a fallback utility player. If you really think that, you haven’t watched the boy play.
