Arsenal have been drawn to face the League two outfit Shrewsbury Town in the Third Round of the Carling Cup. A team Arsenal have only played three times in a competitive match. The most recent fixture was in February 1991 when Arsenal won 1-0 in an FA Cup tie at Shrewsbury.
The Gunners get off quite lightly compared to some other Premier League teams with Manchester United set to face old rivals Leeds United, and a mixture of top tier clubs locking horns: Chelsea v Fulham, Aston Villa v Bolton Wanderers, Stoke City v Tottenham Hotspur and Everton v West Brom
Matches to be played week commencing 19 September.
