Arsenal News: Park Chu Young scores the winner for Celta Vigo [video]

| September 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

On-loan Arsenal striker Park Chu-Young marked his home debut in La Liga with the winner for Celta Vigo as they defeated Getafe 2-1 at Balaidos.

The South Korean international was sent out on loan during the summer transfer window despite a successful Olympics campaign that saw his country win a bronze medal.

The match started well for Celta as they dominated proceedings, but had to wait until the 57th minute until Michael Krohn-Dehli released Augusto Fernandez for the opener, however the lead was short lived when Abdel Barrada equallised for Getafe two minutes later.

Enter Gunners striker Park Chu Young in the 66th minute. Two minutes later he volleyed home Michael Krohn-Dehli’s cross at the far post, his first touch of the game which proved to be the winner.

This is the first we have heard from Park’s loan to La Liga, and hopefully it will be beginning of several reports of positive performances from the South Korean.

He really struggled at Arsenal to gain any game time which consequently led to suggestions he would be sold just 12 months after arriving in North London. It is obvious he was a panic buy on the final day of the transfer window, but hopefully he can reignite his career in Spain this year, sold permanently and earn Wenger some cash to spend elsewhere.

But congratulations Park for opening for account with Celta Vigo, a very tidy finish at the back post, and good luck for the season.
