George Graham: Arsenal have not been replacing the players that left
Former Arsenal manager George Graham has given a blunt assessment of Arsenal’s current state and is adament while Arsene must continue to bring through the youngsters, he has to bring in the quality needed to replace the quality that has left.
As well as this he has also hinted that Arsenal need to get rid of dead-weight, going as far as saying that even Walcott needs to leave after the winger hasn’t fulfilled his potential in the 5 years he has been at the Emirates.
Graham said on the current situation:
Yes, Arsenal are in crisis. It has been slipping away for the last couple of years.
They’ve not been replacing those players who left four or five years ago.
They’re lacking leaders and the quality of the players they’re bringing in is just not up to the standard if you want to win the Premier League.
Arsene’s not won anything now for the last six years so there would be doubt in there. They’ve got money and I can’t understand why Arsene has not gone out and bought some real quality players.
But he has a fantastic reputation and I don’t think the board will forget what he has done.
I think he will still be there next season but he badly needs to refresh the playing side of the club. He needs to keep bringing youngsters through but he must buy quality, experienced players to win trophies.
Some players at Chelsea and Manchester City are earning £175,000 a week or more.
For Van Persie, this will be his last big contract. He’ll be 29 when his contract finishes and he’s going to be looking for a four-year contract, maybe even five. You can’t expect Arsenal to pay that knowing that in his last two years he probably won’t be a regular in the team.
I would let Walcott go. He was a promising boy but his potential has never really been fulfilled. He has still got fabulous pace but he’s been there five years and I can’t see a great improvement.
They’re playing Tottenham next week. Believe me if they lose that one, the fans will be upset.
It is definitely a brutal assessment, but would you at all disagree with it? This man did lead the gunners to the Premier League title twice in 1989 and 1991. Chamberlain and Gervinho show much more promise one feels and should deservedly get their starts ahead of Walcott. At times you definitely feel that a world-class player of Fabregas’ ability in the attacking midfield position could truly unleash such a potent attack, where instead a young and unfairly burdened Ramsey has often failed to have deliver much creative spark going forward. every thing has an end, i think for Wenger with this team has been end for some years now!!! the problem is, he is not only a coach, he is fucking financial adviser for the club. why he can not be same every other manager and be a manager only, and other thing is, that he is runnig out of idea an tactics, we try to play same Barca but we do not have player like Barca!!!!!! we can not even keep the Goddamn ball and our passing are awful we do not even have plan B on the pitch, and if we have, there is nobody to be able to execute it!!! we are same open book, our tactics is almost the same and every team knows over next move. I do not know should Wenger sack or not,but with this team if we can be in top 4, then i believe in God!!!!!!!!!!!can we??????????

It is a sad situation that the Arsenal board and Arsene Wenger have stay there and Arsenal is becoming a mid table club in the epl. Some of the players wearing the club jersey are simply not good enough to play at Arsenal football club. How many years now? Arsene Wenger will continue to tell stories. It is only in Wenger eyes that this boys have qualities needed to win titles and we all will wait forever for them to develop. I am sad.
