OFFICIAL: Theo Walcott pens £100k a week deal
Theo Walcott has officially signed a new contract, effectively ending any speculation of an Emirates exit.
According to sources, the English international has signed a new three-and-a-half year, £100,000-a-week contract with Arsenal.
The winger-come-striker has made it clear that his intentions were always to stay with the Gunners amidst rumours linking him with a move away, with negotiations for a new deal taking over half a year.
Walcott’s new contract adds to the list of young, talented England internationals that have committed their futures to the North London outfit with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs and Carl Jenkinson putting pen to paper prior to the New Year.
His manager Arsene Wenger revealed his happiness over the new deal:
We are all delighted that Theo has signed a new contract. He joined us as a 16-year-old and since then has developed very well to become an extremely important player for both Arsenal Football Club and England.
Theo is a strong player and also a great person, and the combination of his ability and pace always make him such a valuable asset either from the flanks or down the middle. Theo’s contract extension now gives us a strong nucleus of ambitious young players who have committed to the Club and want to be successful with us as a group.
Theo Walcott also shared his gratitude to the club on Arsenal’s official website:
I am very happy to have signed a new contract here at Arsenal.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support, especially the manager, everyone at the club and most importantly the fans.
I have made it clear from the start that I wanted to stay at Arsenal so I am pleased we have agreed a deal that everyone is happy with.
What’s important now is for the team to realise its potential and win trophies.
Walcott signing his new deal is the kind of boost Arsenal need ahead of the Chelsea tie this weekend. His future has been a worry of late, and now that he has committed to the Gunners hopefully it will have a positive influence on his performance on Monday.
For once a contract saga has ended positively for Arsenal. They have suffered so many blows recently with the likes of Van Persie, Clichy and Nasri failing to sign new deals leading to their exits, but hopefully this a new era of commitment and success.
Congratulations to Walcott and Arsenal – massive news.

OK Walcott signs. Now how do Arsenal close the 21 point gap with Man Utd.?
It’s going to take a lot more than re-signing Walcott. Are you listening Arsene?

Walcott is highly overrated. He gets one good game and then follows it with 5 bad ones. I’m not sure if this is a good deal or not. But I really hope he either tries hard to prove that he is worth the money or leave the club forever.

Now Arsenal seem to have a nucleus of British players and that’s not a bad idea, they’re good players. There’s a lack of depth to the squad and perhaps 2 more outstanding players are needed but as you say alan 21 points is a lot to make up.

I am delighted that Theo has signed a new contract because it sends a message to all the Arsenal knockers, that we are a big club and our desire to build a good squad and win trophies is the same today as it ever was. We now have a good crop of English players who hopefully will bring success and will represent Arsenal with pride, when they put on an England shirt. Now that the Theo deal is done, let’s hope that Arsene will add to the squad and show our rivals that we mean busiiness. Up the Gunners
