Piers Morgan: I want to buy into Arsenal..then fire Wenger
Talk show host and passionate Arsenal supporter Piers Morgan has spoken of his desire to buy into his favoured club so he can have his input and attempt to change their fortunes.
Arsenal have been struggling of late after Blackburn knocked the North London outfit out of the FA Cup last weekend before a Bayern beating in midweek essentially condemned them to another trophy-less season, and on top of the Cup set backs they sit behind fourth placed rivals Spurs in the Premier League table.
Morgan, who became a Gooner at six years-old to annoy his Dad who is a lifelong Spurs fan, firmly believes a departure of Arsene Wenger is necessary to restoring parity to North London and the 47-year-old is keen to invest so he can have his say at how the club is run.
He told The Sun newspaper:
I wouldn’t mind buying Arsenal, especially the way they are playing at the moment. I want Arsenal to be successful again. They haven’t been successful for a very long time and I am fed up with it.
If anyone follows my Twitter, (they know) I don’t agree with the club or the manager. Wenger has had his glory days.
We need to get someone new now who is fresh and who wants to win things. I take a very keen interest in them as a business and a football club. If the opportunity came around in the future to buy a stake or to be part of a consortium, I wouldn’t hesitate.
The media and fans are placing Wenger heavily in the firing line at present as another season begins to pass Arsenal by without silverware. Is replacing the Frenchman the priority? I think not, the AST’s stance is far more legible for now especially during the season but despite Morgan’s persistent negative outbursts he does have a point at times..

I somehow doubt that Piers Morgan would have the funds to purchase Arsenal but even if he had the board would never sanction it. If Usmanov can`t get a seat on the board….well I rest my case.

Fully endorse what Morgan says. The fm has gone stale with his emphasis on attacking soccer. This coupled with his one touch passing was supposedly to take Arsenal to the next leve. Unfortunately it hasn’t the last /nine years. If Wenger dosen’t go or doesn’t change it will be more heartache for guuners fans.
Btw he has never given the defence the attention it needs and that’s why the gunners usually lose the big games.If you look athe big games aginst MU/Chelsea you will know what I mean.Is it any wonder they lose consistently to red face and the Blues?The all out attack leaves gaping holes for Rooney and Droba to score with ease.When Arsenal want to shoot they are bloked by a sea of defenders.No wonder the fans get frustrated.

Fully supported Piers Morgan, but unfortunately the statement is only a PR stunt and a pipe dream as long as P.H.Wood remain the chairman.Wenger and the board are ready to do a coup against any prospective or existing shareholder attempting to reverse thier failed project and outdated model which is informed by insatiable greed, ego and powermongering. This repugnant apetite has clearly turn AFC into a cashcow and feeder club that celebrates mediocrity as excellence. If Wenger think otherwise or has any iorta of integrity left in him he would wake up from his delusion or denial and chart a more glorious course. He’s too powerful, outdated,arrogant and deluded to take Arsenal to his former glory. The fundamentals of the problems was created by Wenger from anti progressive wage structure to penny-pinching attitude and tactical blunders, in fact the list is endless. AFC certainly need a fresh management/board with hunger for success other than financial to enhance a new direction.

Hmmm……let’s see how naive/ungrateful arsenal fans are:
-Champions League Football EVERY YEAR (also in the last 16 EVERY YEAR)
-Top 4 Finish EVERY YEAR
-3 Cup Finals including a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL (which Arsenal never
even reached before Wenger) plus a CL Semi and FA Cup Semi since the last Trophy
-High quality FOOTBALL from the Gods that only 2-3 teams in Europe can reproduce. People don’t realize how difficult the system Arsenal plays is.
-Turns nobodies into WORLD CLASS players. (Yes that’s right, he’s an actual coach unlike Mourinho or Fergie)
-Oh yeah we beat FC BARCELONA. Considered one of the best teams EVER. On our own terms. By playing football with the ball on the ground and not luck (*cough Celtic *cough) or parking the bus and countering (Milan) Remember that?
-Most successful coach in club HISTORY. Period.
-All on a shoestring transfer budget (imagine if he dropped some serious money?)
Did I forget to mention when we were winning trophies we had one the greatest players EVER? We don’t have Thierry Henry in the team anymore to bail us out of games.
Now tell me was Arsenal doing anything close to this before Mr. Wenger took over? Answer: NO. We are blessed. Arsenal was NOT a top club before Wenger. We face off against TOP clubs every year (Barca, AC Milan, Bayern Munich). FACT. Remember boring boring Arsenal?
Arsene is a victim of his own success. The real problem resides with the board and BUYING players. The market has changed and better players are more expensive. We’re still buying players for around the same price as we did 10 years ago. So we end up lesser quality/potential for improvement players ie Gervinho, Koscielny. They are good players but not World Class. Combine that with an over reliance on the youth coming good (ie Szczesny not catching the ball and conceding the 2nd goal against Bayern) and we’re slightly off the pace. But we’re always COMPETITIVE and show large amounts of QUALITY. We’re just so inconsistent.
Why aren’t we blaming the players? CLEARLY they have the ability. Why aren’t they delivering? THEY PLAY THE GAME NOT LE PROFESOR.
We dominated Blackburn. Without our best players. Sometimes in life it’s just not your day. Bradford was botched by Gervinho’s sitter. Not to mention that team is/was on a Cinderella run that took them to Wembley.
If you want to glory hunt with a soulless spending club that has no identity then f off and support Chelski or Manure City. The negativity at the emirates kills the confidence of the team. The idea you’re booing a man in the stadium he figuratively built is insane. We need to get behind Arsene more than ever or he’s off to PSG or Real Madrid and Arsenal will be the next Liverpool! Why live your life with past glories? yes it is true wenger built the emirate, he plays good football, the most successfull manager in the club history. But things have changed. our world is changing so fast. One thing i have observed that is permanent in life is change. It is failures that always look on their past glories. in Education, science and technology, everyday new things come up. if u dont equip your self, you will be left behind. Stop leaving on your past glories and think of what u can archieve today. wenger has failed to realise this truth, Arsenal is one of the successfull and richest club in england,and yet some people tell me we dont have money to compete for top players? i dasagree. i just want to say thanks for saying what i have been thinking, if you dont SUPPORT Arsenal… go away ! plz… I love this club and have done for 24 out of 32 years. Mr arsenal has given me belief in football again the belief that you dont have to be mega rich to compete with the best in the world and whats more after the difficulties of leaving highbury i would love to see OUR manager realise his dream with this squad not just scrapped. I remember him saying it will take 7 years to get over the cost of the Emirates funny enough about 8 years ago and in that time we have been close to the ultimate prize, we tried the impossible and came so close that i have dared to dream; that is as audacious as it is priceless considering our financial plight whilst building a terrific stadium in arsene I trust… “Victoria Concordia crescit”

Touche but he roled up to a team with Carvalho, Costinha, and Deco. Portuguese football is a joke and the big three always get the best players. Their only big victory was against Man U with that famous 90th minute winner. They lost to Madrid in the group stage, and then after Man U beat Lyon, Deportiva la Corouna, and Monaco in the final….besides Man U that’s hardly tough opposition.
Chelsea, Inter, Madrid. Hugh clubs with huge rosters. If Arsene had Deco, Samuel Eto, Didier Drogba, Wesley Snyder, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka etc etc it wouldn’t be too difficult to win either.

Mourinho won Champions’ League with Inter after selling his best player (Ibrahimović) to Barcelona. He was obviously a) smart enough to ask for Eto’o in part exchange deal unlike someone who sold Henry in 2007 or b) good enough to win the Champions’ League going through the hardest possible way (Chavs, Barcelona, Bayern). He signed Sneijder from Real Madrid and managed to use him in a way Sneijder became one of the best players in the world after being Real Madrid reject. Argentinian veteran Diego Milito gave his best performances rounded with two goals in the Final.
I agree, had Wenger had Eto’o, Ronaldo, Drogba or Deco, he could win something in previous 8 years as well but he didn’t want to sign neither Drogba nor Yaya Toure back in days they were reachable while transfer funds were wisely spent on the likes of Gervinho, Squillaci, Arshavin, Diaby, Chu Young Park…

Piers is 100% dead right. Wenger has had numerous chances to change his ways but there is a clear pattern of stubbornness and failure to innovate with no sign of improvement whatsoever. He clearly has no sincere intent to push the envelope to win major honours anymore and must go. The board also need to come clean on what the clubs aspirations on the pitch are and what wengers mandate really are.

Too much respect- that is the main problem. AKB’s thinks Wenger deserves unlimited amount of it even if Arsenal is fighting a relegation battle or becomes another Ajax or Liverpool. Too much respect and power has made Wenger arrogant, complacent,deluded, god-like and irreplacable at AFC that no matter what he does he can never go wrong. even when clear evidence suggest otherwise.
