Returning stars Wilshere, Frimpong and Sagna record a win with under-21′s
Returning first-team stars Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong and Bacary Sagna have come out unscathed from Arsenal’s under-21 match against Reading with each player getting 74 minutes, 90 minutes and 61 minutes respectively.
Alongside Francis Coquelin and Andre Santos, the very experienced under-21 side recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory, clearly dominating in midfield.
The good news for Arsenal fans is that our injured stars are well on their way back to the first-team, but the situation is somewhat likely to pose a problem for Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger.
On the topic of the three returning players, it is clear that Frimpong is more in the mold of a fringe player in the first-team, but obviously when Wilshere and Sagna were fit they were mainstays in the Arsenal’s starting eleven.
Talking of the former, it is quite likely that the young Englishman will get his chance to return to the first-team when Wenger deems him fit enough for the Premier League.
It has been a hot topic of interest, but one feels Diaby is simply too injury prone to play for extended-spells in the Premier League and with Wilshere only just about to return to the Premier League, it would be safe to assume that Wenger will rotate the two regularly.
Sanga, however, is possibly not as straight-forward. After he sustained his injury there was no doubt you would have picked the Frenchman to retain his place straight away in the first-team upon his return.
If you fast-forward to the present however, Sagna of late has hinted towards being unsettled at the club and of course he now has stiff competition in young Carl Jenkinson.
The young full-back has improved in leaps and bounds throughout this season and he has hardly been at fault in all of the games he has played, performing extremely well in most matches, particularly the most recent ones. It certainly leads to the familiar question, ‘why change a winning formula?’
With Sagna’s experience and quality however there is no doubting he will get his chance to stake his claim in the team, but Wenger has the ability to make this transition more of a gradual process knowing Jenkinson has adpated extremely well to the Premier League. Competition, as we know, is healthy for any team and if Sagna does not impress, Jenkinson can always retain his starting spot.
What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to the return of Arsenal’s star players? Feel free to leave a comment below or comment on Frimpong, Sagna or Wilshere in the allArsenal.com forums!

More than happy to see sagna play in the cups and jenko in the league till sagna is 100% then swap it around a bit more but in sagnas favour as jenko has time on his side. would also be more than happy for jack rambo and diaby to rotate around a bit and when fit why not rotate cazorla rosicky and arshavin. likewise give arteta a rest every now and again with coquelin and frimpong coming in. hell we have cover now and we need to use it. hopefully we can get at least 4 points off of schalke to clinch qualification and let some players get a bit of match time. walcott chamberlain podolski giroud gervinho and even chamakh can rotate the 6 forward slots and i hope we see a little bit gnabry too.

As much as I would want that to happen, I can’t bring myself to think it would.. I still think we have enough depth right now.

Its going to be a good problem for Arsene Wenger right now…in most positions he has up to three very good players competing for one spot. lets see how things go, but definitely, its a very good omen for a title contending team; Competition and squad depth… You could see from our game at West Ham what a strong bench can do. I believe that if we can keep this team injury free, with a little swagger we can nick this season’s league title from the favorites.. COYG!!
