Team News: Giroud 50/50 for Man City, Diaby back

| January 11, 2013 | 4 Comments

The Gunners have virtually a full squad to choose from this weekend with Andre Santos and Abou Diaby returning to action in the U21 match on Wednesday unscathed, however Olivier Giroud remains a doubt after his gash from the Swansea match.

Arsene Wenger’s side are set to face Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend at the Emirates, the first of a series of tough fixtures over the next few weeks, and the return of Diaby couldn’t be more timely with rotation on the cards next week.

But for the time being the side will hardly change from the recent usual lineup with Theo Walcott almost definitely starting up front, and Diaby eased back into the mix after a three month absence.

Arsene Wenger revealed the following team news:

[on the latest updates] Everyone is fit from last weekend apart from Olivier Giroud. He has not been practising because of the cut on the knee he got at Swansea. We’ll have
a final test on Saturday to see if he is involved against Man City. It is a 50:50. We’ll see.

[on Santos and Diaby] I want to see how they react to the under-21 game they played in midweek. But we have so many games coming up now, it is good they are back.

[on Fabianski] He is not far away [from full training] now, two or three weeks.

I like the idea of putting Cazorla on the wing but would rather see Rosicky start at CAM. Creative, quick, and feisty. Depending on his overall fitness he can be spelled by Diaby or Ramsey.

This should be the line up agains Shitey
    Szcenszy

    Koscienly Vermaelen
    Sagna Gibbs

    Arteta Diaby

    Carzola Wilshire Rosicky

    Podolski
    Subs
    Mannone
    Mert
    Jenk
    The Ox
    Theo
    Giroud

Send the ox for Rosicky, Walcott for Diaby and Giroud for Podolski just after 60 mins. Move wilshere back to diaby’s position, Theo to take up Carzola’s position on the right wing and Carzola takes Wilshire’s position just behind giroud who should replace podolski. The ox should stay out wide left replacing rosicky. With the pace of theo n the ox, they should make clichy n zabaleta run towards their goal, actually the’ll have tired legs so they should be strolling past them. Wilshire can go help arteta defensively coz he’s aggressive whith his tackles which we’ll need in the last 20 minutes and let carzola put Barry in his place.

Note: Send ramsey out on loan to reading then he won’t be under pressure which will build his confidence. This should be done by Sunday.
I’m hoping Gervinho is already away he shouldn’t be seen near the emirates
    Give Santos a day off.
This is just my wish but considering i won’t be in the dugout I won’t be surprised to see ramsey start. If ramsey, gervinho n santos are seen anywhere near the emirates on sunday then be sure we’re gonna get smashed by Citeh.
