Twitter reactions: Top 10 #Monreal tweets

Another transfer window swings on shut, and with it one name managed to sneak into the Emirates doors on deadline day – Malaga’s Nacho Monreal.
The left-back who has represented Spain at U21 and senior level will push Kieran Gibbs for a starting birth and provide more depth to the left back position, but how happy are Gooners with the acquisition? We may not have had a striker trying to sneak into our grounds (unlike the Odemwingie-QPR scenario) or forked out £100k a week on a centre-half (yes..QPR again) but Wenger managed to get a bit of business done and strengthen the back line.
We took to twitter to bring you our top 10 favourite deadline day tweets from the past couple hours of intense action, featuring everyone’s favourite Gooner Piers Morgan:
Will Parrott @willyparrott
Thats Santos down the pecking order at LB! #thankgod #Monreal #transferdeadlineday
Gunner for Hire @g_bangers
Have eaten this Nacho on quite a few occasions and can confirm he has exceptional, exceptional super duper flavour. #ArsenaI #Monreal
Verminated @Vermaelen05
Kudos to Andre Santos, the only person in this world who could convince Wenger to sign a player. #Monreal
Arsene’s Son @hughwizzy
Didn’t think we’d sign ANYONE, so can’t really complain about getting a Spanish International Left Back. #Monreal
Matthew O’Brien @mclarenmattob
Nachos should be free at the Emirates on his debut #Monreal
maff @playsar
He shares his name with a snack, he’s Arsenal’s new left back! #Monreal
Detective82 @Detective82
Rarely are Spanish internationals available in their mid-twenties. Good going forward and in defence, says Graham Hunter #monreal #ArsenaI
Arsene’s Eyes @Arsenes_Eyes
So just to be clear. Had Gibbs not got injured yesterday, the #Arsenal hierarchy would have spent today on the Golf course?
Piers Morgan @piersmorgan
We have £70m to spend, are 6th in table and staring non-CL-qualification in face – and we buy nobody but a replacement LB? #Arsenal #madness
Arsene’s Eyes @Arsenes_Eyes
It’s great an’ all, but does still leave us with the Santos vs Arjen Robben issue though. #Arsenal

FFS! You felt that piers effin Morgan’s inane dribbling warranted highlighting? Makes Alain the chipmunks post almost seem vaguely interesting.

“Inane dribbling” ? He’s absolutely right. Your prejudice against Piers Morgan blinds you to the truth of what he is saying. All we have done is replace the ( now outgoing ) Santos with another left back. Sure, Nacho is better, but overall, number wise, the squad is exactly THE SAME as before. So how have we strengthened and improved the team ? We haven’t. We all know and have been saying that the squad does not have enough depth, and Wenger must know this too. But he has effectively done NOTHING about it. Again.
If you looked further than beyond the end of your nose, you would see this.

Well, he Le Professor has a surprise in store! Like playing TV5 as defensive Mid whenever Diaby is too sick. Because I can’t understand the lack of cover for the defense. We definitely are gambling with Giroud/Theo/Poldi/Gervinho strike force, given that Oxdale/Rosicky/youngster or two of the above mentioned strikers would provide enough scoring from the wings. And middle mids like Wilshere/Cazorla/Rosicky/Arteta can hold their own… If we crush out of the champs league, finish behind the spuds out of next years CL then may be we will buy a defensive mid. May be Coquelin and Arteta will com back and will solve these issues. Disappointed yes, excited for the next face of the mad professor’s experiment hell yea. WTF..

Piers Morgan is a useless pompous unwashed rectum.
Who did you fools want Arsene to buy? Anyone fool available?
He tried to get Villa. Barcelona said “No, not for any sum because we need a backup striker”
We want world class players and in the January window, there were none available. World class will be available in summer.
I remember you idiots screaming that Arsene buy Suhin. Where is Suhin now ?

You are deluded mate, everyone can see it except you and a few other deluded fellows. According to you and that man you call prof there were no world class players in the market? What is class to to you? Yanga Mbiwa, Demba Ba and all the other players scured by other teams are not world class? you are drunk go home. No champions league qualification, and be ready for the loss of another two best players in the summer without replacing them coz there will be no world class players in the market. F**** AW.

Arsenal’sYourDaddy – Care to explain why you have that opinion of Piers Morgan ? Exactly what is it about his many media statements and Tweets about the board and manager, do you find disageeable ? Please point out precisely where he is wrong and why.
Here’s a few of his Tweets to start you off with ; “Arsenal’s not about winning”, “Coming 4th is a trophy”,”Take our best player Sir Alex, – no wonder we’re disintegrating “. #WengerOut

Where is Sahin now ? On an 18 month loan at Borussia Dortmund. Obviously their manager has a contingency plan in case of injuries, and he decided that Sahin would add depth to their ( already strong ) squad. Coincidentally Dortmund are managed by Jurgen Klopp, who is talked of as being a future Arsenal manager. How ironic, eh ?
Who do think has the most foresight ?

From the number of thumbs down votes I and some of the other realists on here have been getting, it appears that there are many who still believe in Wenger. On what grounds do you justify this ? On what he did up to 2005 ? That’s ancient history. For your information, I too admired him for what he did for us back then. So no argument with that. But unlike A.K.B.’s, I refuse to keep living in the past, and allowing him to continue trading on past glories indefinitely.
Question A.K.B.’s – What is Wenger CURRENTLY doing well ? Repeat – CURRENTLY doing well ? Don’t dredge up all his past achievements, because I have said that I don’t dispute them. Let’s talk about the HERE AND NOW, which is where we actually ARE living ( well some of us, anyway ).

Dear (Anal) Spectrum,
Whould you have liked to get Brendan Rogers or AVB as coach for The Boss in the summer? Not exaclty world beaters are they? Liverpool’s example shows that once you’ve given up stability, you can not get it back easily. You say Klopp as successor, but he doesn’t want to quit his club, as BVB is as big of a club as The Arsenal (finances, stadium capacity, squad-wise). Don’t you think Chelsea would have got him already if he was available?
[You say after one new signing and no exit:] “Overall, number wise, the squad is exactly THE SAME as before” It’s hard to comment on this one. You tried maths?
Oh, you forgot to mention that Sahin couldn’t get into the ‘pool team. That shows something, isn’t it, with Henderson, Allen an Shelvey taking up positions. But I’m really curious, from the
———-Szczesny———
Sagna-Kos/Per-Verm-Gibbs/Nacho
Walcott-Arteta-Cazorla-Jack-Poldi
———-Giroud————
starting eleven, who would you replace? I guess Giroud, and that shows how much of an infantile prick are you, knowing nothing about football. But other that him, who? The depth, I guess, so that Squill, Chamakh, Arsha are not close to the team.
Well, guess what, we ALL want to do that, AW included. It’s just that NOONE wants to buy them. Okay, maybe it’s his fault that he bought them in the first place, but which manager doesn’t make mistakes? Give me a manager name and I’ll give you 10 pathetic signed names from him.
In the summer, all of them will be gone hopefully: MC29, NB52, SS18, AA23, Denilson, JYP, Fabianski, Mannone. The wage budget doesn’t let him to make big new signings yet, but after that, AW will hopefully be able to build a team that is a real contender.
If he doesn’t do that, I’ pretty sure that he’ll be able to realise that his time is up. If he does, I hope you’ll all admit that you were whining little pricks.
Well, good day sir.
In Arsene we TRUST.

Mickey – Brendan Rogers has only been with Liverpool for less than a year, Wenger has had eight years since his last trophy. Hardly a fair comparison. AVB is only in his second season with Spurs. And is starting to have an effect. They’re currently above us, in case you hadn’t noticed. He had to leave Chelsea because the players objected to his plans for the team, apparently the bigger egos influenced his eventual removal. Not his fault.
As for squad size, Wenger has said that two players per position is enough. So with Nacho coming in, Santos being as useless as he is, will most likely be offloaded, or else he’ll just be adding to the deadwood’s wage bill ( another thing that Wenger is exclusively responsible for. ) Wenger wasn’t going to buy ANYONE, but with the ( fortunate for him )timing of Gibbs’ injury, he had no choice. So we were lucky Nacho was signed in the first place, or we’d be staring at Santos again. So given that Santos will be leaving ( using Wenger’s rationale ), that means by the time he goes, we will have the same size squad as we had before the window opened. Is that progress to you ?
Which manager doesn’t make mistakes ? Well name me another manager who consistently makes mistakes as often as Wenger does, and continues to do. Name anyone else who has had eight years to fix the defence, but never does ? What other manager refuses to spend money he HAS been given, not just this year, but for the last three years, at least ? The same team that has needed strengthening back then, and still hasn’t been now ? And what other manager would set up a wages system that pays unproven kids and average players the same ridiculously high salaries as the experienced and better senior players ? And then has to loan them out on full salaries, because nobody can afford to pay their disproportionately high wage packets ? And on it goes. Take your blindfold off, for God’s sake.
Who would I replace from the team ? Giroud is pretty good, but not world class, as Van Persie was, and still is.We should have still had him playing for us,with Giroud as a back up / rotation player. And if we had proved to him that we actually have ambition, he would probably still be with us. But we sold Van Persie and have as a direct result, now helped United to win the league, in return for a 24 million “ransom” payment. Clever of Wenger, eh ?

Nachos can’t play in the CL, but do not fear about Santos, I suspect Wenger might draft Vermaelen in to the LB position against BM.
